My mantra these days is...easy, easy, easy. Making wikis easy to use isn't, unfortunately, as easy as it sounds! I've learned that helping people get over the hump of the first contribution is extremely important, but we're still working on how to make that happen at WikiOutdoors.
One potential idea is to use templates for creating new articles instead of a blank screen coming up. This is a tactic that wikiHow uses. With the hiking articles on WikiOutdoors, I think we could easily build templates. But, I wonder what will happen as we expand the gear review and program review sections? Will it be confusing to have multiple templates? Would it be better to have one template that can easily be customized? Ah, the questions...we still have a lot to learn, but I'm pretty sure that making it easy will help us grow the WikiOutdoors community.
